SINGAPORE – The assassination of former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe has cast a renewed light on his legacy, from his somewhat hawkish foreign policy to his innovative domestic agenda. Success may have been mixed, but there is little doubt that Mr Abe has been one of the most consequential prime ministers in post-World War II Japan.
While he left office as prime minister in 2020, his initiatives still define the direction of public policy in Japan.
