SAO PAULO / MOSCOW – As many as 4,500 health workers died in Brazil after contracting COVID-19 while working to save lives during the pandemic, a global federation representing public service workers said Thursday.

The deaths were registered between March 2020 and December 2021, according to a PSI report which, based on official data, was compiled to analyze public policy amid an event of such magnitude in Brazil and other countries.
Russia
Russia confirmed 15,477 new COVID-19 cases over the past day, taking the nationwide tally to 21,264,080, the official monitoring and response center said Thursday.
The nationwide death toll increased by 101 to 388,610, while the number of recoveries increased by 30,793 to 20,531,754.
